Healing a Dog's Cough Naturally

Jo Bighouse answers a reader's question on how to cure a dog's cough naturally:

Herbs such as Echinacea, coltsfoot and licorice may be helpful. Echinacea is a natural immune booster ... Antibiotics upset the natural balance of bacteria in the intestines. After your dog has completed the antibiotic treatment, you should reestablish the natural intestinal micro flora by adding either plain yogurt or a digestive enzyme to his diet.

Antibiotics are terrible for humans AND our animal pals.

As a veterinarian with 41 years of experience, I can tell you that tha vast majority of dog coughs are just mild, upper resp. infections like a head cold in a person. Treat it the same way. Many things can cause it and antibiotics are only indecated if the cough is severe or the dog is off feed. Most will pass in a few days. Sugar water is much more effective than liquid cough meds. I have a 1 1/2 y/o English Bulldog and she seemed to be have a "cold." Her nose was runny and sneezing all the time. So I decided to try a product called "Pet Health." It is pretty much a product you sprinkle on your dog or cats food and is a great antioxidant. Along with my Bulldog now being sick free for over 6 months, it also helps with their bones and joints as Bulldogs are known to have problems with their hips and joints. I would recommend anyone to check it out. Lasts a long time and very inexpensive.

... Here is a section out of the description of the product.

"Much the same way antioxidants can help optimize a person's health, they can also be beneficial to our dogs and cats. Antioxidants help fight the damage caused by free radicals. They can also help improve immune responses and vaccine recognition in dogs and cats. Young animals can benefit tremendously from antioxidants because they are vaccinated frequently and their immune systems are still not yet fully developed. Antioxidants can help maintain optimum health in your animal's gastrointestinal and cardiovascular systems, liver, kidneys, eyes and immune system. Another important role of pet antioxidants is their ability to improve immune-cell function for dogs and cats in their senior years."

Love articles like this, hope this can further help the health of your dog.

being concerned with the health condition of our dog may lead to death of our dog cause sometimes even if they want to take antibiotic we still insist it on them.
